Teacher's Guide Series for Motion Pictures. Author: The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences

This resource contains a plethora of lesson plans based on movies.  The majority of lesson plans focus on understanding media, as found in media literacy, visual effects, sound and music, documentaries, and cinematography lesson plans.  Each of these categories, along with others not listed, provide lesson plans, activities, worksheets, and film suggestions to teach different media skills. This group of lesson plans/suggestions promotes media literacy through film.  Along with an in-depth discussion about a certain lesson (in whichever lesson category you choose), a downloadable package is available that contains all the website does, in PDF form. It also includes worksheets and activity/movie suggestions for each skill. Many of these lesson provide information on hard-to-teach standards, such as camera angles and sound effects. Of course, each movie suggestion needs to meet school and district standards/expectations, as suggested films are rated G, PG, PG-13, and R and some may contain inappropriate themes and language.
