Fractions

This is a lesson plan to introduce fractions and create fraction strips using a 12" strips. Students will see the comparison of parts of a whole. These strips can then be used for other lessons relating to fractions. This can be used as a whole group lesson to demonstrate fractions or as differentiated instruction for students struggling to understand fractions as a math manipulative.

Materials:

  • Scissors
  • Black crayon
  • Ruler in inches
  • Envelope or plastic Ziploc bag
