The Five Senses

This link is a wonderful unit about the five senses.  In this lesson plans you will find tools and resources for teaching the 5 senses.  Some experiments are: visuals-eye doctor experiment, walk about scavenger hunt, barefoot rice, chart for sense experiences, flannel board activity, Ice cube sensory tray, squishy bags for sensory, texture sorts, smell-y containers, and tasty treats. This is a wonderful lesson plan on the 5 senses. It is full of materials in all academic areas. There are many hands-on activities in science such as the "Smelly Bag" and the "Mystery Box".

  • We experience the wold through our senses.
  • There are people that cannot see, and they are called blind.

  • There are special ways to help deaf and blind people.
  • Our tongues have taste buds and they are what help us taste things.
  • We have nerve endings that help send messages to our brains that tell us what things feel link when we touch them.
  • Our senses help keep us safe, and teach us things.
