Numbers and Me

In this lesson, students participate in activities in which they focus on the uses of numbers. The activities explore how students use numbers in school and every day settings as a way for students and the teacher to get to know each other at the beginning of the school year.

  • Interpret data obtained from a survey.
  • Record data in a bar graph.

Extension suggestions: 

Have students individually graph the results of other questions on the Numbers and Me Activity Sheet. Suggest the creation of bar or picture graphs.

Have students create and solve word problems about their "Numbers and Me" data. Problems should be shared with the class.
