Scenarios with T-Charts

Into the Book is a reading comprehension resource for K-4 students and teachers. The website focuses on eight research-based strategies: Using Prior Knowledge, Making Connections, Questioning, Visualizing, Inferring, Summarizing, Evaluating and Synthesizing. Online interactive activities are available for use, and engaging 15-minute video programs can be viewed. The Scenarios with T-Charts lesson teaches students how to make inferences about a scenario from literature using evidence from the text. If you use reading demonstrations to model cognitive-based reading strategies, then you will find this lesson very useful. This lesson could be used for whole group instruction or during small group guided reading.
